The Foundation for Universal Responsibility of His Holiness the Dalai Lama is organizing every year a group of Gurukul students from all over India and houses smaller groups in different monasteries and nunneries during their almost one-month stay in Dharamsala. During that time they will be exposed to Tibetan culture, religion and Buddhist philosophy as well as art, and will get to know from various intellectuals and prominent speakers about the history and current stand of Tibet in and outside of Tibet. The best thing though, is that they will have direct exposure of the Tibetan way of life and how these are carried out in exile in their own country.
This unique organization was established with the Nobel Peace Prize awarded to His Holiness in 1989. In the spirit of the Charter of the United Nations, the Foundation brings together men and women of different faiths, professions and nationalities, through a range of initiatives and mutually sustaining collaborations. The work of the Foundation is global in its reach and transcends nationalist political agendas.
We were happy to house a few students with us during that time. Towards the end of their stay in Dharamsala they also had a talk delivered by the Medium of the Nechung State Oracle with a question and answer sessions, which they very much enjoyed.
