Today, on the 18th of July, a secondary Trelda Tsechu festival has been celebrated by the Nechung Monastery in India in commemoration of the Birthday of Guru Padmasambhava. This ceremony was organized, as Dharamsala, the seat of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the Exiled Tibetan Administration, share a unique relation to this ceremony. Hence, after the actual ceremony in Rewalsar, this was organized knowingly that the Exiled Tibetan Administration can also partake in this important event and join hands in recognizing the importance of the coming of the second Buddha to Tibet. It was an immense honour that H. H. Karmapa Rinpoche attended the ceremony as the Chief Guest amidst his busy schedule.
H.H. the Karmapa arrived at 07:00 sharp and was lead by a traditional procession headed by the Nechung Kuten (Medium), Nechung Choktrul Rinpoche, Lopon and the Disciplinarian to his chamber in the main temple, where he had tea and a small breakfast. Then the actual ceremony began with the rites of the Tsok offering to Guru Padmasambhava according to the Northern Treasure Nangdrub Lama Rigzin Dungdrub.
Then at 10:00 an official trance was held in honour of H. H. the Karmapa, H.E. Sikyong and five other ministers of the Tibetan Administration, as well as, the Secretaries of all Departments, who all took the precious time and attended this ceremony. The Oracle offered the three-fold mandala to H. H. the Karmapa and offered him verses of longevity as well as appreciating his dedication to uphold the Dharma and serve His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Then the oracle blessed the public (guests), offered Tsok and started the procession of the Guru statue around the temple as in Rewalsar.
After the trance ceremony a luncheon was hosted to all guests and dignitaries and, simultaneously on this auspicious day, the Official Website of the Nechung Monastery was inaugurated by His Holiness. It was indeed an auspicious day with no rain to disturb in the midst of Indian monsoon.
