Due the importance of the 600th Anniversary of the great seat of learning Drepung Monastery, our monks celebrated the Anniversary of Je Tsongkhapa in south India where the great monastery is re-established.

As is tradition of the Nechung Monastery, the new Disciplinarian is always selected by vote every second year and appointed officially with a ceremony on that day. This year however, after all monks have gathered back to Dharamsala from south India and later from the teachings in Bodh Gaya, we made the ceremony on the 28th of January. The new Disciplinarian Ven. Phuntsok Tensang is from Tibet and joined the monastery in 1996 and completed all monastic trainings and spent the last two years at Drepung Loseling Monastic University and studied higher philosophy. He was the Chanting Master of our
monastery for four years.
